Camphire 2011 Success

Under glorious sunshine, Camphire 2011 came to a close on Sunday 21st August.

A big thank you to all our competitors, sponsors, stewards, judges and volunteers who made the event a fantastic success this year. Also, thank you to all our vistors in 2011 and trade providers who offered a wonderful range of food, crafts and fun activities, including archery, bouncy castles, bird-display, face-painting and more.

Horse Sport Ireland have announced that they will provide €1500 in bonuses to the top 6 year old Irish Sport Horses in the 5 & 6 year old CIC 1* class at the Camphire International event. To be eligible for the prizes the 6yr old horses must be registered in the Irish Horse Register with the breed code ISH or ID, and be by a stallion that is classified as ‘Approved’ in the Irish Sport Horse Studbook or a stallion that is classified as ‘Class 1’in the Irish Draught Horse Studbook. Horses must also have their dam documented on their passport. The winning IHR horse that meets the requirements will receive €1,000, second place €300 and third place €200. The event takes place on from 19th to 21st August.

Horse Sport Ireland Director of Breeding and Programmes, Alison Corbally, said that the bonus had been introduced to encourage owners and riders to produce their horse to a high standard with a view to Le Lion d'Angers later in the year. "This class is at the right time of year and it also provides an opportunity for combinations to achieve the FEI qualifications required to be eligible for Lion." she said.
